Hello,
 I'm getting this:
....
  LD [M]  lib/zlib_deflate/zlib_deflate.o
  Building modules, stage 2.
  MODPOST
WARNING: drivers/acpi/processor.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.data: from .text between 'acpi_processor_power_init' (at offset 0xfd8) and 'acpi_safe_halt'
WARNING: drivers/atm/he.o - Section mismatch: reference to .init.text: from .text between 'he_start' (at offset 0x1f1d) and 'he_service_tbrq'

make[1]: *** [modules] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/eyck/40f-ovz/work/openvz-test'
make: *** [debian/stamp-build-kernel] Error 2

 when I try to build openvz-enabled kernel. I'm using 2.6.18 /pristine/
( it looks like ovz028stab039.1 already includes 2.6.18->2.6.18.8 patches,
 and one needs to dig out older 2.6.18 to make this patch apply).

is this normal?

make sure that you have the following options enabled in your .config file:
CONFIG_USER_RESOURCE=y
CONFIG_USER_RSS_ACCOUNTING=y
CONFIG_UBC_IO_ACCT=y
CONFIG_USER_SWAP_ACCOUNTING=y
CONFIG_USER_RESOURCE_PROC=y

compilation fail - not normal, you can fill in the bug with .config file you used.
OVZ patches includes not only 2.6.18.8 fixes, but many other mainstream fixes to
make sure your whole system works stable.

Thanks,
Kirill

Eyck,

ouch, this is due to CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ=m
usually all the schedulers are 'y'.
plz set it temporarily to 'y' or use the patch attached. Created bug #669.

Thanks,
Kirill

 It looks like your patches brake CFQ io scheduler, without it it compiles
just fine.
 I'm using CFQ on multiple servers and it usually shows better characteristics
then adaptive/deadline, I could only get deadline to behave consistently nicer when I
removed raid cards and tested on serial ata hardware, so it would be nice to have
the option to use CFQ...

yes, as I replied 5 mins ago it broke compilation of CFQ being a module.
