I run a VE which try to use an NFS mount. It looks like the NFS mount was lost. I tried to restart the VE first without the --fast option but the results are the same.

titan ~ # vzctl stop 108 --fast
Stopping VE ...
Unable to stop VE: operation timed out

There is a process in D state inside the VE:

6376 ? Ss 0:07 init [3]
8501 ? D 0:00 \_ /usr/sbin/exim -Mc 1HVmqs-0002Ta-5A
8985 ? Ds 0:00 \_ shutdown -h 0 w

Is there anything I can do it? The machine is far away from me.
Thanks for any ideas.

Hello,

This process should die after ~5 minutes. If it doesn't happen, please, fill a bug in bugzilla with detailed information what you've done and about your environment.

Thank you,
Vasily.

Hi!

If I remember good there was more time till the D state process exited (I made a phone call meantime) but I'm not 100% sure.
If it happens next time I will watch the stopper Smile and gathering informations to the BugZilla but this time was an emergency situation. I hope it will not happen again.
I think this can be correlated with the kernel dump I sent to you in the other thread ( Bug 513 ) so we can close this thread.
Thanks,

Arpad

it is very helpfull for debugging if you press
Alt-SysRq-t and collect output from /var/log/messages next time when you hit the problem.

it will show where processes were stuck.
