You don't need VT to run system virtualization (VT form Intel are additional registers that add hardware support for virtualization)


You will need a EM64T (Intel some Pentium's 4 and Celeron's D, Pentium D, Core and above) or AMD64 (AMD Athlon64, Sempron64 and above) processor if you want to run 64-bit os.

You can install and work with 64-bit os on VMware even when the host os is 32-bit (works on VMware workstation 5.5 and VMware server),
example 32-bit windows/linux host os, 64-bit windows/linux guest os). You still need 64-bit CPU.
