It's not clear from your posts if you're working from inside a container (CT) or from a hardware node (HN)? Do you have access to HN?

In any case, there is no kernel package installed within the CT as it doesn't need one. Even if you do install it, it won't have any effect on the working kernel.

To find out your current kernel version, execute 'uname -a'. This works under both HN and CT.
