Hi,
all information is in the LKLM post you've linked to - thats the situtation.
Ola Lundqvist maybe will test alien RHEL->DEB packages as he explained.
Surely it would be better if someone could port the OpenVZ stuff to the long term kernel like Alexander Gerasiov explained but if no one could do it (and maintain it) or if there are no resources maybe the above solution would be the best guess.
And yes I'am using OpenVZ on Debian for many CT's.
