I use iotop
http://guichaz.free.fr/iotop/

But if it's excessive logging then that won't tell you much.

Also watch top and when you see a busy process hit Ctl-C then
"vzpid PID" to see which VPS it's coming from.

Chasing down I/O loading can be a bit of a PiTA. There doesn't seem to be any one magic bullet that is good at tracking this down.
