afaik a few features like cpulimits/cpus/cpuunits do not work in the kernels marked as unstable (eg. all precompiled debian kernels out there).

the stable RHEL 2.6.18.* kernels on the other hand may not support a feature from one of the recent kernel versions you like to use.
