and your error messages I think the problem is with your host ip command /sbin/ip.
What does the command
/sbin/ip addr list
give as output?
Could it be that your host /sbin/ip from the iproute package have been overwritten with garbage?

Thanks for the input ramjet. Most of the commands I tried gave back an error that the directory didn't exist. I've formatted the server and reinstalled OpenVZ, 2 containers and Zimbra. It works fine now.
I guess it's bad idea to mess with the files via the host. (maybe for one or two files, it's no problem, but not the /etc /dev ...ETC... folders)
