Well, it seems cPanel definitely works fine with OpenVZ, just search this forum or google inernet - many people write about it.

But if i understand right you'll need to install cPanel inside a Container, not on a Hardware Node. But i'm not a cPanel guru, so can miss something - and you'd better ask about the cPanel migration details on a cPanel forum.
