I have additionally noticed that the stock Ubuntu 8.04 template does not fully start. It starts and shows up when I do a vzlist. However, when I enter the VE it doesn't appear to have made it through the boot process. Nothing is present in the VE logs.

When I did a 'dpkg -l' I get the following error:
dpkg-query: cannot scan updates directory `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/': Unknown error 530

Which apparently is related to an incompatability between newer glibcs (which my VEs probably have) and the kernel I am using:
Linux test 2.6.9-023stab044.4-enterprise #1 SMP Mon May 28 23:32:20 MSD 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=454638

There is a newer kernel which I have yet to try, though their release notes don't mention glibc or O_CLOEXEC. Does anyone know if this issue was resolved in the more recent RHEL 4 kernels?

If I can I will try the newer kernel, but I am assuming that a newer RHEL should work correctly. Has anyone experienced this?
