Sorry for bumping this old, old, thread, but I found it while troubleshooting a DNS inside a container and I think it is good context for a piece of advice.

If you install a DNS server in a container bear in mind that a 32 bit mask makes the built-in acl "localnets" apply only to the container itself (i.e., it is equivalent to "localhost"), so you will have to explicitly define your own acl.
