Sometimes this helps also:
On the node:
vzctl exec <<VZID>> /sbin/MAKEDEV ptyp
vzctl exec <<VZID>> /dev/MAKEDEV tty
vzctl exec <<VZID>> /dev/MAKEDEV pty

The temp error: I should not know.
It looks as if it's no longer there, so create a new /var/tmp...
