После установки beta kernel все заработало.
# uname -a
Linux linux.local 2.6.16-026test005.1-smp #1 SMP Mon Mar 20 19:09:41 MSK 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
# vgchange --verbose --available y
Finding all volume groups
Finding volume group "VG00"
1 logical volume(s) in volume group "VG00" already active
Found volume group "VG00"
Activated logical volumes in volume group "VG00"
