OpenVZ add containers support to the kernel, meaning you can
partition your hardware node in to several/lot of VEs
So no external software,like HyperVM, can't really
make the reverse - make one VE from several hardware nodes.
While mosix,openmosix and openssi projects do that, they have nothing to do with containers.
So HyperVM probably just uses some ip clustering + load balancing
techniques.
I can also suggest open source projects like LVS - Linux Virtual Server which is mostly used to virtualize webservers.
