I'm not sure but I think that this driver is just compiled into the kernel, so it's not available (and not needed) as a module.

is there a relatively painless workaround for this? although i've done it before my kernel upgrading skills are a little rusty and i'm confused about why mkinitrd is failing if the driver is compiled into the kernel.
