Currently we support four branches -- 2.6.9, 2.6.18-vanilla, 2.6.18-rhel5, and 2.6.20. The first three ones are really stable, while 2.6.20 is still a bit shaky in the moment.

Unless you want to live on the bleeding edge, stay with 2.6.18 (or even 2.6.9)
