Relevant line:

On the VE

*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none -/var/log/messages

On the hardware server (works)

*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none /var/log/messages

However, I tried changing (removing the dash) and restarting syslog, still no logging for apf.
