I tried your first suggestion. This is the error message from vzpkgcache -f:

--> Running transaction check
--> Processing Conflict: kernel conflicts dev < 3.2-7
--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: kernel conflicts with dev < 3.2-7
ERROR: yum failed with 1 exit code
