Probably, some account runs SETI-at-home or similar CPU-eating software?

I'm also seeing large load spikes on my host server. My VEs can all be idle and it still happens.

Nothing in any log files except the maillog which says: "rejecting connections on daemon MTA: load average: 14".

The CPU usage is mostly idle (it can be 70% idle, even during the load spikes), but the load spikes up to 14 or so at random times for a few minutes a couple times a day.
