I've modprobed ip_vs from VE0 and it shows up in lsmod.

Running ipvsadm from VE0 is fine, but running from VE1 gives the following error:

[root@vps1 ~]# ipvsadm --help
Can't initialize ipvs: Permission denied (you must be root)
Are you sure that IP Virtual Server is built in the kernel or as module?

Do I need to specify that VE1 is allowed access somewhere? If so, where might I do this?

Hi Vasily,

I'm playing with an LVS setup, and using a single box split up with OpenVZ rather than lots of seperate boxes seemed like a good solution. I guess I'll have to run the LVS on a seperate box, unless this is a relatively quick fix?

Yes, I suppose you have to run the LVS on seperate boxes. Rolling Eyes

That's a shame, it would have made a wonderful dev environment. Oh well, I suppose one/two LVS boxes and all the realservers on the OpenVZ box will have to do.

I'll have the director running on separate machines, do you know if I can have the realservers on virtual machines, if I use LVS in LVS-DR mode? In LVS-DR mode I also needs the kernel of realservers to be patched with LVS, can this be problematic with OpenVZ?

Thanks!

Fernando
