Something I'm beginning to realize as I experiment with OpenVZ is that OpenVZ might actually be better than dedicated servers from the point of view of maintenance.
All VE environments are basically the same logical "hardware" in that if I want to migrate a server from one computer to another all I have to do is rsync the files over, copy the config file, and start it up. So is a customer wants to upgrade to a bigger server and the current server just isn't mighty enough it's easy to move to new hardware. Even if there is only one VE running on the new server.
By using a VE I can log into the users server without having to know the users root password. I like the idea of not having to know that.
It also allows me to add security to the user's VE without having to go into it so I can add extra protection on the outer layer. Basically allowing me to do some management without having to "get inside" and I can do things that the server owners can't screw up.
