AFAICS, it it as follows:

vmguarpages = 620736 = 620736*4 Mb = 2.482 GB
so, for 10 VEs it have allocated 24.82GBs which is overcommitment equal to x2 (you have 4+8 = 12GB total). AFAICS, vzsplit tries to keep overcommitment bound.

also you can always check your configs with vzcfgvalidate after any manual changes.
