Hi!

At the momentan i want to try to switch from 2.6.16 to 2.6.18.

So i analyized your kernel config examples for 2.6.18.

I know that the kernel team has changed the default scheduler to CFQ - but why it is also set in openvz? Antipacity should be better for servers, shouldn't it?

Stefan

AS has problems, for example:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5900
AFAIK, Redhat Entreprise Linux uses CFQ as default,
and SLES also. So why OpenVZ shouldn't use common choice? Smile

Oh OK - i didn't know that. I've only read on many postings => Newsgroups etc. - that AS is better than CFQ for servers and CFQ is better for desktop systems...

I thought that this is still correct.

if you feel that some scheduler better suits your needs - use it by adding the boot kernel option "elevator=" with one of those: as, noop, deadline or cfq

No i don't feel Smile I've only read some postings about schedulers - but it could be, that they're very old - i don't remember.. I should flash my brain - and store CFQ too for a good scheduler Smile
