Hello,

I've created my own gentoo template and if I'm checking the free disk space it looks like that:

localhost / # df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
simfs 1.0G 0 1.0G 0% /

Well, if I'm using du it looks like that:
localhost / # du -sh *
6.5M bin
0 boot
220K dev
1.9M etc
0 fastboot
0 home
4.8M lib
0 mnt
0 opt
34K proc
0 root
4.2M sbin
0 sys
0 tmp
369M usr
119M var

Does anybody know, how to fix this?

TIA,
Steffen

Hello,

please, tell us exact kernel version you're using and filesystem, the VE resides on.

Thanks!

Kernel version:
andromeda steffen # uname -a
Linux andromeda 2.6.16-026test015 #1 Sat Aug 5 06:41:02 Local time zone must be set--see zic manua x86_64 AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 3000+ GNU/Linux

I've created my own kernel. Config file could be found here.

Filesystem on disk, where vps's saved is XFS.

I will check this, if my template is working on another HN.

TIA,
Steffen

I suppose you're also using disk quota in VEs? ("yes" by default installation)
If this is the case, then the problem is known. OpenVZ supports per VE disk quotas only if VE resides on ext2/ext3 filesystems.
I see two ways for you: if you need quota - use ext2/ext3, if you don't need quota, then make quota off (using vz.conf file) and df should report right information.

vass.

If it's the case (couldn't check at the moment), than this problem should be added to the FAQ.

Or am I the first person, which is asking the question? I've searched in the user guide, but there is only a comment, about not using reiserfs, because it is less stable than ext2/3.

TIA,
Steffen

I agree! Smile

It would be very appreciated, if you add appropriate page to wiki.openvz.org.

Thanks!

I've added it to 'Installation and upgrade'-section of the wiki.

Is it possible, that this problem will be fixed in some time, or is there no plan for doing this? If there is no plan, for fixing it, than it will be better, to add the filesystem requirements to the installation guide.

HTH & HAND,
Steffen

Thank you very much!

There are plans, but at the moment we have tasks
with greater priority. So some time xfs quotas will be supported by OpenVZ, but nobody can say when... Rolling Eyes

Installation guide is really old and new version should appear. AFAIK, this work is in process.

Thanks!
