Hi,

I'm having a little problem with processes on a VPS. My node OS is FC 4 and the VPS is running on Debian-3.1-minimal. This is what's happening:

As you can see, there are only 45 processes running on this VPS, on vzlist it shows 84. The processes that are running on this VPS are not so consuming that his 560MB of virtual memory shouldn't suffice.

Is it possible that OpenVZ is mixing processes from one VPS to another by mistake?

What should I do to fix it?

`ps aux` does not show threads. `ps -eLf` does it.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for your answer. Now it makes sense. I tried ps -eLf and it showed all threads and I counted them up to be the same shown in vzlist.

But isn't the memory being accounted wrong? With only a few eggdrops, one ircd, one shoutcast and one ircservices it is using more than half of the memory.. Currently it is using 341MB out of 560MB

Is there a way to check how much privvmpages each process is using to identify which one is using too much memory?

As far as I undestand, you're afraid of this number:

114 2.80 11.38 63.67 64.03 155.56 341.53 155.56 560.59

If so, then everything is ok. This number doesn't show how much memory this VE use! This number equals how much memory VE in question allocated!

Usually applications allocate much memory but use only ~25% of it.
