1 . I tried migrate tool , wasnt able to make online migration because of checkpoints . I just want to understand how much is it onlne. For instance - does it acts like hibernate , ie process keeps running without restart? Also what about network connections? Say i made telnet connection to smtp before migration - typed rcpt to:<... , etc , during migration i dont loose connection and after migrating i can continue mail session without any data losses . Is it possible ?

2. Also is there exist online backup tool? In case i dont need to migrate , but i want to have working current copy on another machine to start it when original node suddenly crushes. Is it possible or the only way to install heartbeat with drbd , so on ?

Also im interested what advantages does virtuozzo have against openvz in these terms ?

What was the actual problem? Describe what do you do,
what fails?

CPT allows to migrate a VE in a way, essentially invisible both for users of this VE and for external clients, using network services located inside VE. It still introduces a short delay in service, required for actual checkpoint/restore of the processes, but this delay is indistinguishable from a short interruption of network connectivity.
