Hi, first - congratulations for opening the virtuozzo technology under GPL. Welcome to "bright side of life" Very Happy

I wanted to run a host and guest with Debian GNU/Linux. Other distros are no options for me Smile

For utilities:
I have download utilities and make them "Debianized" from rpm to deb with alien and install them.

For kernel:

After following all steps to make kernel 2.6.8 i.e:
- downloading vanilla 2.6.8 from kernel.org
- patching with diff-2.6.8-2.6.8.1
- patching with linux-2.6.0-nonintconfig.patch
- patching with patch-022stab032-core

Setting appropriate settings in /etc/sysctl.conf as suggested in your site.

As a base .config i use your kernel-2.6.8-022stab032-i686.config.ovz

I have kernel dumps every time the kernel boots. I really prefer to compile the kernel by myself (instead of using binary kernel).
First i thought this is because of many changes by me in config. But after minimizing the changes by me (comparing to your config) only to:
- changing my processor to AMD Athlon/K7 (instead of your Pentium-Pro)
- adding support for my Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) in the kernel.

This was the minimum changes in .config for me. But even with minimal changes the compiled kernel is dumping. After 5-6 reboots i found that the kernel is dumping on process ifconfig (after starting /etc/init.d/ifupdown). Just to make sure i've made a little change in the shell of this script to /bin/shh - so script can't run at boot and the system was up without kernel dump, and no network ofcourse. But when i wrote ifconfig eth0 x.x.x.x netmask 255.255.255.0 up the kernel dump again. If you need more info for hardware or software...- i'll put it here Sad

Can you post an oops message here?

If it's fatal, i.e. not saved in log files, you can either just make a photo of the console, or, if you have a serial (COM) port and another PC with a serial port, you can connect them with serial cable and set up serial console logging.
