Before around 2.5 hours ago I deleted a very important directory on my openVZ vps.

I have tried:

root@server:/home extundelete /dev/simfs --restore-directory ./ --output-dir /home/restore/

Output:
extundelete: failed to read-only open device "/dev/simfs": Error code 1
How can I solve this issue?

OpenVZ does provide an undelete function and neither do any Linux filesystems I'm aware of. OpenVZ supports ext4 which certainly does not. So to answer your question, there is no easy way to undelete your deleted file(s). You need to use backups and when you have an accidental deletion, you have something to fall back on.
