does any of you guys know when the veth feature will be implemented into the "stable" kernel?

AFAIK, there is no such plans.
2.6.8 series is freezed, only fixes will be available.
BTW, 2.6.16 series is stable enough Rolling Eyes

also during next week we plan to release stable 2.6.9 kernel based on RHEL4 with this feature.
