Hi All,

I'm working for a client as an on-call sysad, and my client wants me to upgrade a guest Debian OS from Squeeze to Wheezy. Is this advisable? I have read somewhere that you should update the Host OS instead.

I have upgraded guests from earlier versions of Debian - think it was etch to lenny - seemed to go okay, the guest is still in use.

Of course with openvz, this doesn't upgrade the kernel: for that you have to upgrade the host.

My 2c: I wasn't sure so I tried it. Take a vzdump of the guest first, and you can always go back.
