*SOLVED* copying files from HN to VEs [message #4799]

In http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=tree&goto=717&&a mp;a mp;srch=copy+files+from+host+to+vps#msg_717 kir demonstrates copying a directory from the HN to a VE by first mounting the VE and then copying into /vz/root.

Is it absolutely necessary to mount the VE first or can I just copy from the HN into /vz/private for the particular VE - *provided* the VE is stopped?

Also, is there a method for copying a file(s) from the HN into a *running* VE? (other than scp, ftp...)

No, it isn't necessary and you can copy files to /vz/private.
But I think, there will be some problems with quota (it'll be not right) after that.

Just copy needed files to /vz/root/VEID/...

You can copy the files to ../private/.. but then the quota is wrong. If you don't care about quota it doesn't matter.

If you want to recalculate - and your VPS is alreaddy stopped (if not, it makes no sense to copy to private instead of root)

you can use vzquota drop VPS_ID

if you start next time - the quota will be recalculated.
