As the following shows, I am using the 2.6.8-22stab078.1-smp kernel, x86_64, which was installed as an RPM. Attempts to load the vzethdev module manually with modprobe fail, because the module is missing in the /lib/modules/. . . paths where the other vz modules are found.

Was the vz kernel I am using built with veth support included? If not, does the *test* kernel have veth support? I need to run a VE as a Samba server, and I can not do this with vznetdev.

I would appreaciate information on what I need to do to get veth support.

Thank you
rollinw

Note: The vz kernel is running with CentOS4.3.

vzethdev won't be backported to 2.6.8.
but you can use 2.6.16 as it should be quite stable enough already or you can wait a bit for us to release a new stable kernel series based on RHEL4 kernel sources.

Hello again,

I installed the 2.6.16-026test015.2-smp kernel as suggested, and now I am able to load the vzethdev module.

So I am ready to continue my adventures in openvzland.

Thanks you for your quick help!
