Hi,

after migrating several containers to a new HN using vzmigrate, we experience issues with some of these containers (using the gentoo-openvz-x86-2008.11.30.tar.gz-Template).

When I try to start such a container using vzctl start <CTID>, the container gets the status "running", and vzlist shows up 4 processes.
CTID NPROC STATUS IP_ADDR HOSTNAME
451 4 running <IP> <HOST>

After a few seconds, the container stops and remains within the status "mounted". I assume there is a problem during the init, but I found no possibility how to get the output of /sbin/init when starting the VM.

Any suggestions here?

/var/log/vzctl.log / dmesg do not show any errors.

vzctl version 3.0.29.3
2.6.32-openvz-feoktistov.1

I'm assuming you're doing an online migration? Maybe try offline see if the result is the same.

Also, is there a reason you're using the 2.6.32-openvz-feoktistov.1 kernel rather than the stable 2.6.32?

Hi,

no, I am not doing an online migration. We do not use any special parameter for vzmigrate.

We are using 2.6.32-openvz-feoktistov.1 because we had serious difficulties to get GPT support running on 2.6.32.

Update: The problem has been solved by updating the OS on the container.
