Hi

before I invest time into this, I thought I would check if anyone had gone the AWS road.

Is there a recommended kernel for using OpenVZ on EC2 instances? Or even a pre-built AMI/AKI? Or someone who could bundle and publish their working setup?

If not: would it generally be possible to use an Amazon Linux image and install the latest stable OpenVZ kernel? I understand that Xen DomU support is enabled by default, but see an XSAVE patch mentioned throughout the interwebs. Is that patch already applied to any of the OpenVZ kernels? How about the other patches mentioned in the below document?

ec2-downloads.s3.amazonaws.com/user_specified_kernels.pdf

Thanks for your input!

J.
