Hi,

I have our first client live now on openvz and ran into a problem due to the number of users.
when i checked /proc/user_beancounters i noticed we were hitting the numflock limit. This was set at 1000 with a limit of 1100. I increased this to 2000:2200 and have solved the problem for now.

I would like to know how can i check the maximum number of file locks avaliable on the host server so that i can set this number reliably?

Thanks

Hi,

"ulimit -a" on the host should show current limits. AFAIK, normally file locks are "unlimited".

I believe file locks are directly related to numproc/numfile.. though not 100% sure.

Hi,

If that were the case why do we care about a max limit on NUMFLOCK ???

regards

no. you can set almost aribtrary number of flocks on files, so that's why VE should be limited. if you VE is trusted however, you can safely set nuflock limit to an arbitrary high value.
