Hello,

My enterprise is going to order a 128Gb of RAM server.
I saw that the OpenVZ Kernel can only support 64Gb.

What's about that ?
How to bypass this limit ? Can we ?
Recompiling the kernel.. ?

Welcome on board scr4tchy!

I asked Kir about this 64 GB limit and he told me that this limit doesn't exist any more. It was true for some very old versions.

Where do you get your information from? Would be helpful to know.

Whatever said and done, you should be installing an OpenVZ kernel for x86_64/amd64. All new CPUs can do lm and support vm/vmx extensions, so put in the x86_64/amd64 Linux kernel.

Stock x86_64/amd64 kernel are good enough. No need for a recompile.

If you are ordering this server from some hosting company, ask them to install a x86_64/amd64 kernel even if the machine is a Intel class Xeon/Core2XXX/iYY server. Most of these hosting companies have to be educated/instructed, they may try to run you over with their "knowledge-base".
