hello,

everytime I try to run cpanel on my VPS (running a dedicated server with openvz and solusvm) i receive this exact message:

[root@server home]# wget layer1.cpanel.net/latest
--03:58:59-- layer1.cpanel.net/latest
=> `latest'
Resolving layer1.cpanel.net... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution.

does anyone know why this can be happening? someone please help me, I really have to get this server up and running as I have customers waiting on me Sad

Is your DNS resolving? Can you ping any other domain?

What is in your /etc/resolv.conf..?
cat /etc/resolv.conf

should i run cat /etc/resolv.conf through the main server or through the vps itself?

search up2vps.com
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220

is exactly in my /etc/resolv.conf for the server itself

and if i run on vps i get the same
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220

i've tried multiple nameservers.. and still nothing is doing the trick.. every vps I add I have the same problem, can not wget anygthing.. no cpanel no yum.. nothing

Have you checked networking from the VPS? Are you able to ping the HN gateway/nameserver IP? Put a valid entry in the VPS /etc/resolv.conf
