Hello,

I've been having a problem with my OpenVZ server where eth0 randomly stops working and the only way I can bring it back up is by logging in to the KVM and rebooting the server. There doesn't seem to be a pattern as to when this happens. Below is what is reported in /var/log/messages

My kernel version is 2.6.32-042stab039.10 and I'm running CentOS 6 on the host.

Thanks for any help!

Not sure if this is related but CentOS 6.0 has a problem with the kmod driver for the e1000e ethernet chip. It causes loss of connection. Newer kernels have apparently fixed the problem.

However, you should not be having this problem since you are running the latest OpenVZ RHEL 6 kernel which should include the latest e1000e kmod driver.

I thought I should mention it so you can at least be aware of it and perhaps try updating your kmod driver.
