Very convenient, since it does the following in one step:

- Incremental backup (huge space saver)
- Encrypt backup
- transfer to a another server via different protocols
- uses duplicity which supports S3

If you choose to stop the server for a very clean backup, vzdup allows you to start the container immediately after the snapshot, but before the long archive and compression part.

So the downtime is very short compared to vzdump for a clean backup (vzdump only restarts the container after the tar/archive process is finished).
