Dear All,

We are working with a Adaptec 5405 4-Port SAS/SATA Controller.

RAID Volume: RAID 10
HDD: 4x 2TB

As per RAID 10, it should show 4TB of volume.

We are running the system in CentOS 5.5 64 bit. It only recognizes 2TB of the volume and I was not able to see or use the other 2TB volume since CentOS can handle only upto 2TB.

My question is:

1) Is there any way that in the controller level itself I can make a partition like 100GB for OS and 3.9TB for Data.
2) Is it possible to do it? If so, please give the information on how to do it.

I can't give more details about Adaptec since we don't use it but CentOS itself supports more than 2TB per partition.

How did you format your partition, did you use fdisk or parted? I'd recommend the latter, I believe fdisk might be your source of problems since it doesn't support GPT.

BTW, I strongly suggest updating your server from CentOS 5.5 to current (5.6) and keeping it updated when 5.7 comes out.
