I installed virtualmin on my VPS and created a new virtualhost. I googled how to change the time and found
rm /etc/localtime
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/US/Eastern /etc/localtime

Tried and failed Sad

Strangely when I view any timezone file in the zoneinfo directory and the /etc/localtime file all I see is
TZif2
is this okay ?
Is there any other way to change my timezone ?

Hi,

seems the zonefile(s) are missing ... reinstall the tzdata package

btw, can you plz post where the ostemplate was downloaded, or it's a selfbuild os template ?

Bye,
Thorsten

why you installed virtualmin? If i am right, it is useful on the HN, not on the container itself.
Maybe you wanted webmin?

Hi,

@Tipika : virtualmin is a web hosting control panel, see http://www.virtualmin.com/

@vald: ask your provider, why this template has no timezone files (maybe to save space)

# install timezone files
$ yum installed tzdata

#
$ yum update tzdata

Bye,
Thorsten

Package tzdata-2010l-1.el5.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

The tzdata package is already the latest version, that means there is some other problem.
