Just to let you know that the Debian V6 template put few days ago in the official list can not be installed.

On the HN node I am running openvz under Debian v5, I didn't plan to upgrade this one, just install a new container with V6.

I have this :

Internal error: Command 'vzctl set 98 --userpasswd root:oscour' execution failed with code 47
Output: Starting VE ...
VE is mounted
Unable to start init, probably incorrect template
VE start failed
Stopping VE ...
VE was stopped
VE is unmounted

I tried to create a new container using command line or through the openvez web panel, still having the same message.

Did you succeed on your side ?

I had a look on the error 47 : Bad/broken container (/sbin/init or /bin/sh not found)

Mmmm, I suspect something is missing here in the template.

I'm not sure what distro you run on your node, but sometimes there is a mismatch between /vz and /var/lib/vz - I always make a symlink so both of them exist.

If this path is wrong, it will also not be able to find init.

Thks for your replies, I really appreciate.

about symlink, me too, and that's the reason why I also create symlink.

here I'm on / :
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 sep 10 21:03 vz -> /var/lib/vz

Well, the distro I run on the node is debian V5. Could it be an issue to run a container V6 on a V5 node ?

I checked the template. I have doubt on the template,
Look at this for exemple :
OPENVZ2:/vz/template/cache# tar -tvf debian-6.0-i386-minimal.tar | grep /bin/sh
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2011-02-07 05:24 home/deb6/bin/sh.distrib -> bash
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2011-02-07 05:22 home/deb6/bin/sh -> dash

? having a home/deb6 is correct ? shouldn't have a ./bin/sh instead ? I checked a ubuntu template i have used recently and I have a ./bin/sh no "home/xxx/..."

I reply to myself as my last thought was finally RIGHT !

The template is not good, the tar file has been created from /home/deb6 !!

I gunzip, untar it, recreated from the ./ and finally, I succeed to create a new container from this template.

I can upload the right tar.gz minimal debian v6 file , don't know how as I never did that. will try to look at that to help the community.

However thks for your help.

sorry dude, I forget to tar it in the directory itself and had tar it from outside.

I had fixed it and will be re-submitting it later.

I have same problem.
Debian 6.0 VM can't start.
Error is:
---
Unable to start init, probably incorrect template
Container start failed
---

I think I miss configure file on /etc/vz/dists for Debian 6.0.
