Opteron 6174's and Supermicro H8QGi+-F motherboard support? [message #41480]

Hi,

Has anyone here bought an 8 core or 12 core Opteron system and used a Supermicro board such as the following? H8QGi+- F . I see that it supports Centos 5.5 64 bit kernel on their site. However, when I sent an email to support@supermicro.com they said they do not test OpenVZ kernels... I just want to know if anyone out there has bought an 8/12 core Opteron and used a Supermicro board such as the H8QGi+- F and not had any issues with the OpenVZ kernel. I don't want to waste my money buying a really expensive board and processors if it's not going to work with OpenVZ.

Hi,
i have such an board (H8GGI-F: attention the +-version has only one pcie-slot!). But i use it with proxmox and the kvm-only kernel (2.6.35). But i can do a test with 2.6.32 or 2.6.18 (what kernel do you want to use?).
Next week i should get the second board, so i can do a short test (if an proxmox-kernel is enough).
