Hello,

there was running a HN with i386 Centos 5.5 and 4 GB memory.

No we have a HN with x86_64 Centos 5.5 and 24 GB memory. I have moved live the VE to the new server by using vzmigrate and the container is working well. Inside the container runs a mysql 5 server as i386 arch.

Can I install inside the container a mysql server for x86_64 arch. after mysqldump / restore procedure of the DB's to use the allocated 8 GB memory for mysql inside the VE?

Or

is it possible to upgrade the VE from i386 to x86_64 ?

even if it would be possible, just creating a new 64bit-VPS and importing the mysqldump will be faster, easier and much less likely to make u hate your job ,)
