Hi

I am trying to set the clock on the HN but the output of "uname" displays incorrect timezone (MSD) and wrong times. All VPS also show same output.

=========
Hardware Node Output
=========

[root@hn ~]# w
22:21:21 up 23:13, 1 user, load average: 0.69, 0.50, 0.65

[root@hn ~]# date
Sun Sep 19 22:26:56 NZST 2010

[root@hn ~]# uname -a
Linux hn.ardsads22.net 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5.028stab069.6 #1 SMP Wed May 26 18:31:05 MSD 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

===========
VPS Output
===========

root@vps [/]# uname -a
Linux vps.ardsads22.net 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5.028stab069.6 #1 SMP Wed May 26 18:31:05 MSD 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

uname and 'date' / 'w' output is inconsistent....

root@vps [/]# date
Sun Sep 19 22:25:58 NZST 2010

======================

Kernel: 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5.028stab069.6

I need to set timezone to NZST, so I did this on the HN:
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/Pacific/Auckland /etc/localtime

The uname output still is incorrect - showing the MSD timezone and incorrect time/date - in May? It is now September Confused ..

Is this a bug?

Thanks

Hi,

uname is showing the time and time zone when kernel was compiled. Don't worry about that.
