Can you please emphasize?

Do you mean that executing /etc/init.d/syslogd restart leads to a node reboot? Or do you mean that the message about syslog restart appears just before kernel booting text in /var/log/messages? Or do you mean something else?

It always give kernel panic when we reboot server after the crash.

I have upgraded today to the latest kernel assuming it could be buggy kernel.
In server with more than 4gig ram when install
#yum install ovzkernel-PAE
or
#yum install ovzkernel-ent
it don't boot the server.
But when install the simple
#yum install ovzkernel
it work's just fine.

Thanks

It looks like you made a guess that it's syslogd that leads to server restart. In fact, "syslogd: restart" message is the last message that is written to the /var/log/messages before the actual restart, so I see nothing wrong with it.

And your problem now is spontaneous server restart, right?

To investigate it, we need serial console log; see http://wiki.openvz.org/Remote_console_setup

I believe I have the same issue. I suppose it could be a random occurrence, but the reboots only happen directly after syslogd restarting -- here is my log:

---Etcetera---

Anyone have any ideas? Did the kernel update fix the issue?

Kernel update didn't fix it for me, which makes sense. I have a second OpenVZ HN with identical hardware and the old kernel that does not reboot itself. It's a setting somewhere.

Very annoying.
Previous Topic: chkpnt works, resume fails, same hardware - big ram image, ideas?
Next Topic: network issue - vps stop responding intermittently
