Same with mingetty -- just disable it. For example, see http://wiki.openvz.org/Debian_template_creation#Disable_gett y

Unfortunately the wiki article you referred to in your first post is somewhat incomplete -- it was half-written by someone and then abandoned. Would be great if you'll update it now then you have some more experience.
