I am trying to setup an ubuntu 10.4 (Lucid) VE on a centOS 5.3 Node ( 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5.028stab064.7PAE) running openvz. Is it a possible combination or is the 2.6.18 kernel too old for Lucid ?

I have created the VE image with debootstrap, but I always get the famous "enter into CT 102 failed Unable to open pty: No such file or directory" message. I have tried to fix this with MAKEDEV and with update-rc.d -f udev remove... It did not help. Did somebody already managed to "virtualize" Lucid ?

I tried.

The pts thingy can be fixed by creating the correct device nodes (this http://blog.bodhizazen.net/linux/lxc-configure-ubuntu-lucid- containers/ may help).

However, the main problem is that the boot process hangs - i have found no solution so far neither a way to really debug this.
