When any type (it seems) of open vz kernel is used on an Intel Atom, a networking problem occurs. I can leave all containers off with only an ntpd running and eventually the machine is unable to communicate with reasonable time.

This includes pings or ssh and the system appears to run fine otherwise. Network I know is affected the worst and a reboot will fix the issue for a while.

Running 2.6.31 results in no problems.
vmlinuz-2.6.18-128.2.1.el5.028stab064.8SMP/PAE is timing nightmare it seems.

A simple question could be, why run ntpd? I turned it off and eventually (about 24 hours) the machine sits with 0% usage and no visible signs with counters to explain why the host is not responding. No interrupts going crazy or a bunch of context switches or any other program interrupting.

If anyone could shine a little light on this or suggest something new, I would appreciate it. I do not expect a solution. I am a BSD person who is used to jails but likes the container idea that Linux has done so well.
