Aptitude FATAL -> Failed to fork. [message #38045]

Hello,
i have a debian lenny guest on a lenny host.
When i type aptitude update install or something i get FATAL -> Failed to fork.
When i start just aptitude i get that message. Uncaught exception: Not enough resources to create thread.
apt-get seems to work.
